Andrew the Car Guy

Andrew Orozco

I diagnose cars for a living — everyday repair, European factory-level diagnostics, air conditioning and electrical, across eight shops in Los Angeles and Orange County. Ask me anything about your car and you’ll get a straight answer, not a quote.

What I know

Most mechanics see one slice of the car. I see all of it.

Our shops cover general repair, European makes, and the electrical and air conditioning faults nobody else wants to chase. Working across all of it is what lets me tell you which noise matters, which warning light can wait, and which repair you’re being oversold.

01

Diagnostics & Warning Lights

Check engine, ABS, TPMS, battery. What each light actually means, what it doesn’t, and which ones mean stop driving now.

02

European Cars

BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche and VW. Factory-level tools — ISTA, XENTRY, ODIS, PIWIS — because guessing on these cars gets expensive fast.

03

Maintenance & Intervals

Oil, coolant, transmission fluid, filters. What genuinely needs doing on schedule and what’s being sold to you.

04

Brakes, Tires & Suspension

Squealing, pulling, shaking, vibration at speed. The symptoms people describe wrong, and what they usually turn out to be.

05

AC & Electrical

The hardest faults in the trade to chase properly. Blowing warm, parasitic drains, gremlins that only show up when it’s hot.

06

Buying & Owning

Pre-purchase checks on a used car, OEM versus aftermarket parts, and what actually voids a warranty.

I’ve also worked all three jobs a shop contains — technician, service advisor, and shop manager. Most people in this trade only ever do one. That’s why I can tell you what’s wrong, roughly what it should cost, and whether you’re being handled.

Why I do this

People don’t get answers. They get estimates.

Somebody comes in worried about a noise and leaves holding a number they don’t understand. That’s the whole problem with this industry, and it’s fixable. So I started filming the answers to the questions I get asked every day — the same ones, over and over, at every shop.

Ask me about your car. I’ll tell you what’s going on with it whether or not you ever bring it to us.

Where I come from

My father started these shops.

Servando Orozco founded Orozco’s Auto Service in 1990 and built it into four brands across Southern California. I came up inside it — in the bays, on the tools, learning the trade from the person who started it.

It’s why I know what I know. It isn’t why you should listen to me. Judge that on the answers.
